There are few added amenities to the Soniat House, where atmosphere wins out over extravagance. The hotel's sitting room is beautiful and homey, and includes a well-stocked honor bar for guests to prepare their own drinks. The courtyard, too, is a lovely place to relax and there's an antique store on the property. There's a computer and a printer for guests to use and the hotel offers free Wi-Fi and daily newspapers. Breakfast is available for a fee and can be taken in the dining room, courtyard, or in guest rooms. The Soniat House is located in the middle of the French Quarter, on a quiet cobbled street and surrounded by similarly historic Gallic buildings.
The historic Soniat House dates back to around 1830 and was commissioned by sugar plantation owner Joseph Soniat Duffossat. It's a typical French Quarter townhouse, with peach exterior walls, green wood shutters, and a large second-story balcony with wrought-iron railings. Inside, the hotel is spacious but cozy, with beautiful high-ceilinged rooms. Still it's easy to feel at ease in the parlor room of the hotel, where there's a deep-seated couch and a well-stocked honor bar for guest use. The 31-room Soniat House is an upper-middle-range boutique hotel in the French Quarter.
Hotel & Amenities Photos
Located on a quieter street, this hotel provide a good option for those wanting to explore the area and its history while avoiding the party scene on Bourbon Street. Built into a cluster of three historic townhouses, the hotel presents like a bed-and-breakfast, with large, individually styled rooms full of antiques. All the rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished, though some may be more worn than others and walls are thin.

The resident cat adds to the Soniat House's homey feel, but guests with pet allergies may want to look elsewhere. Soniat House offers 31 rooms in six categories, offering plenty of options for a small hotel. Even the most basic rooms are spacious, with room for a sitting area in addition to a queen (or larger) bed. Each room is uniquely decorated with antique furniture that add to the property's historical ambience.
Although it's only a few minutes' walk from restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as the party scene at Bourbon Street, the area is quiet and calm. The French Market is a four-minute walk away while Jackson Square takes seven minutes on foot.

The furnishings in some rooms appear worn and while the hotel is on a quiet street, noise can sometimes be an issue as the property is old and the walls are thin. Bathrooms are bright, modern, and stocked with Molton Brown toiletries, though some showerheads show signs of calcification. Although rooms are a decent size to begin with, suites offer significantly more space, and have full seating areas along with a bedroom or two.
Cuddy supports Vogler, but when Wilson refuses to go along, Wilson is tossed off the board and House is given a one day reprieve. Cuddy is ready the next day to vote against House, but when House pulls off not one, but two miracles in that period, she refuses to go along. Vogler moves to have her tossed off the board, but she gives an impassioned speech to the rest of the board and instead of voting against her, they toss Vogler off the board instead. House, Wilson, and the team are elated, but with the loss of $100,000,000, Cuddy realizes there's nothing to celebrate. Cuddy was married for six days in 1987 in New Jersey, as revealed in the Season 7 episode Small Sacrifices and the marriage ended in divorce. No further information about her brief marriage or about the identity of her husband was given.
Treatment in absence of insurance
She also learns that Chase wants to be close to Cameron, despite the fact he has other options available. When he suggests he wants to become a board certified surgeon, Cuddy pulls strings and convinces head surgeon Dave Thomas to let him work in the surgical department. Vogler holds out a poisoned olive branch - if House will endorse his new drug, he will let House keep his department intact. House goes back on the deal - House goes to a major conference and embarrasses Vogler by damning the drug with faint praise and pointing out its costs outweigh its benefits.
Character Played By
House frequently ignores or works around Cuddy's instructions. He has often exposed the hospital to unlimited liability, and has a habit of alienating important donors to the hospital. However, Cuddy is frequently reminded how much better a doctor House is than she is. She admires House for his ability to ignore emotional considerations when a patient's life is on the line, and his persistence in acting for the patient's best interests. House describes Cuddy as "a control seeking narcissist" which ironically, is a perfect description of himself. Cuddy decided to hire House despite the fact that she acknowledged that he had already been fired from four other hospitals.
House Clinic
The relationship between House and Cuddy is, to say the least, incredibly complicated and rife with tension. So many people have accused Cuddy of sleeping with House that even House has jokingly asked if there is anything to the rumor. Some of the audience was left unsure whether they really do have a past, and if their feelings are more than just flirty banter and sizzling hot sexual tension for several seasons. However, House and Cuddy eventually reveal that they have deeper feelings for each other in season five, when House offers Cuddy a kiss of solace in Joy after learning that her planned adoption will not go through.
Series overview
Cameron suggests to House that instead they propose an across- the-board salary cut that will save exactly the same amount of money. When House proposes this, Vogler rejects the suggestion outright, and Cuddy soon realizes that Vogler isn't trying to save money, he's trying to get House in line. House tries to mollify Vogler by offering up Robert Chase, but unbeknownst to anyone, Chase is Vogler's only "rat" in House's department as Cameron and Foreman turn him down flat. Shortly after becoming Dean of Medicine, Cuddy was approached by House once again. He had recently been fired from yet another job - the fourth time.
Hemispherectomy is an approved treatment for some brain disorders and melarsoprol kills about as many patients as it cures, but is the only possible treatment for African trypanosomiasis. Cuddy finally get in touch with the nanny, and Rachel is fine. The insurance company has caved in and agreed to her terms. She goes to the board, who congratulates her with applause. She goes to her office to find an installment check from the Mr. Acevedo, but tears it up. She tells them the hospital hasn't been paid because of the suit.
During this time, she met Gregory House, who was working at the university bookstore during the time he was appealing his expulsion from Johns Hopkins Medical School. The only other salient fact about her early life is that she admitted to Wilson (who later told House) that she once slept with her father's best friend. She personally cares for each patient so every visit is carried out only by her. The Los Angeles-based team’s audiological staff works in close conjunction with its physicians to provide the most advanced audiometric evaluations and treatment options to ensure that patients receive the best treatment possible.

However, in the previous episode, Insensitive, Cuddy's blind date left her because, although he liked her, he noticed how much more excited she was when she was around House. The general consensus is that physicians should not write prescriptions for treatments they know to be ineffective. However, this extreme is somewhat controversial as some physicians (most notably, Dr. Mehmet Oz) believe that if the treatment provides the patient with some comfort and alleviates their anxiety, it is justifiable.
She finally arrives for her meeting with Eli Morgan, the insurance company representative from Atlantic Net. She tells him that if they don't sign a new contract on her terms by 3 PM, she's ending their contract. She also continued to land guest-star spots on such shows as ER, Frasier, Just Shoot Me! According to rumors, Lisa Edelstein, who played Cuddy alongside Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps, two other original cast members, had contracts that expired after the seventh season.
Cuddy once again offers him a good job if he comes back, but Foreman turns her down flat. However, when Foreman finds out he's unemployable, he agrees to Cuddy's conditions, but she withdraws her offer and instead insists Foreman return at his old salary and stay on House's team to keep an eye on him. After insulting and assaulting a patient (with a rectal thermometer) in the clinic, Cuddy insists House apologize. When House refuses, the situation escalates when the patient turns out to be a police detective. He follows House and finds him with Vicodin on his person and arrests him for drug possession.
House was among the top 10 series in the United States from its second through fourth seasons. Distributed to 71 countries, it was the most-watched TV program in the world in 2008.[3] It received numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Peabody Award, and nine People's Choice Awards. On February 8, 2012, Fox announced that the eighth season, then in progress, would be its last.[4] The series finale aired on May 21, 2012, following an hour-long retrospective. House often clashes with his fellow physicians, including his own diagnostic team, because many of his hypotheses about patients' illnesses are based on subtle or controversial insights. His flouting of hospital rules and procedures frequently leads him into conflict with his boss, hospital administrator and Dean of Medicine Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein).
Cuddy thinks there is no time, but is intrigued as to how Lucas works. She deals with a patient who wants a prescription for breast milk to treat his colon cancer. He thinks the insurance company will have to pay for it if he has a prescription, but Cuddy tells him that it isn't the case. Dr. Simpson thinks she's crazy - Atlantic Net covers 80% of their patients. However, she convinces most of the board that the insurance company can't afford to cut them off without alienating their customer base. However, Chairman Sanford Wells tells her that if she can't get the contract, her contract will come to an end.
After a second, they begin kissing passionately as the episode comes to a close. (Technically she can't, House has tenure and can only be fired by the board acting unanimously, but they despise House more than anyone.) However, when pressed, Cuddy will point out that House has saved about one patient a week. She also realizes that House is a much better doctor than she is. Breast milk won't do the patient any good and giving him the prescription won't require his insurance to pay for it.
Cuddy realizes that House is not and probably never will be ready for a real relationship and ends it. Based on Cuddy's assertion that she wants House arrested if he ever comes near her again after this incident, it may be safely assumed that the final nail has been driven into the lid of the Huddy coffin. However, it is still possible that they reconcile post series. Throughout season 6, House has attempted to prove to Cuddy that he is changed and capable of a serious relationship. Cuddy gives Nurse Regina a script to take to the call center and tells her to make sure each copy is accounted for.
This set House down a destructive path, and led to him having to go to extremes like driving his car into Cuddy’s living room. In Wilson, Cuddy decides to move in with Lucas, and is seeking House's approval through Wilson. She tells Wilson that she found a nice loft for her and Lucas to live in, although she didn't realize House was listening.
Booked this restaurant upon learning it was rated one of the best restaurants in the world and we were not disappointed. The filet mignon was cooked to a perfect medium and the macaroni and cheese was to die for. The service was great, the ambiance was nice and the food was good. Probably my favorite was the stuffed French toast and a croissant was so fresh and flakey..

There was no confusion as to where to order (given this is a standalone location and not a stall in a crowded food hall) and everything was ready in a timely manner. Even better news for me is that I passed my stress test with flying colors, so I can safely venture back to both spots when the urge arises. It was definitely an above-average sandwich, though maybe not my dream date. The schmear of chopped liver was smooth and creamy, reminding me of the way my mother used to make it. I lived for 21 years near Manny’s Deli, an institution in Chicago for more than 70 years, and I was there enough that the pastrami slicer knew me. I was now ready for my return visit to Schreiber’s to see how they had worked their kinks out over the past week and compare the pastrami and knish to Joan’s. What I have never missed out on is Mom’s cheesecake, a staple dessert from Dressler’s restaurants that comes from his mother’s recipe — his mother being the bakery’s namesake, Joan — that never disappoints.

The roll makes the sandwich, so this story was over before it started; I would take a pass on The Mullbery for that reason alone. I ordered the Mullbery, which featured soppressata, capicola, mortadella, prosciutto and aged provolone, with the usual accompaniments of oil and vinegar with mayo on a hero roll. Like Joan’s, the slices were thick, but they were fattier and had a more peppery taste. If this were a blind date, we would have clicked instantly. The potato knish had a more solid potato interior, and though I preferred Joan’s, you couldn’t go wrong with either. The new location was run efficiently compared to my first encounter at Schreiber’s.
Growing up in the Windy City, I was used to Jewish delis; I always loved pastrami sandwiches and matzo ball soup on those cold days, of which there were many. At Joan’s you’ll find many of Charlotte’s favorite baked goods, including the cakes made famous at the Rare Roots family of restaurants. Stop in for a slice and a coffee, order a whole cake, grab lunch from our deli menu, and take a seat on our patio overlooking the greenway with the best view of Uptown Charlotte.
Having just left the doctor’s office, I figured I’d hold off on the pastrami — at least until I visited Joan’s the next day. Order our traditional & delicious sandwiches, salads & wraps to cater your next special event!. Made fresh to order on our fresh vegetables, hand-sliced meats and cheese.
Ganko is dedicated to their wok-made ramen, and their expertise shows in every delicious, filling bowl. They’re also planning a new location in Braintree in the summer of 2024. This award-winning ramen can be traced all the way to Kagoshima, Japan, where it became known for its freshly made noodles and chicken-and-pork broth, claiming accolades in Japan and the U.S. It offers three signature tonkotsu-based ramen dishes (spicy, rich, and light) and two miso broth-based vegetarian ramen dishes. It has three locations, one in Harvard Square, one inside a shopping mall in Dedham, and the other in Seaport.

It offers a great selection of bowls and izakaya-style small plates that “you have not seen anywhere,” proclaims owner Yasu Sasago. Once a beloved ramen destination in the Super 88 Food Court, Pikaichi has since settled into Medford as its permanent home. Pikaichi serves eight types of ramen, two of which have a vegetable-based broth. Heat-seekers should opt for the spiciest ramen on the menu, the jigoku ramen; the word jigoku means “hell” in Japanese and is adopted by ramen shops to describe the spiciest variety on its menu.
Small plates,
Stay alert while parking, in particular, and in the evenings, when the neighborhood’s bustling crowds tend to thin out. That said, the neighborhood stays fairly busy (and thus feels safer) on weekends and special event days, especially near the Japanese Village Plaza and the Little Tokyo Galleria indoor mall. Solo dining,
Sapporo Ramen is known to draw a crowd, but your prize for waiting it out is a cheap bowl of noodles in a hearty broth topped with sliced or ground pork. Don’t forget to add on an order of Sapporo’s excellent steamed Roast Pork Buns. A hot bowl of soup loaded with springy noodles and tasty toppings, ramen was never really taken to-go in its native Japan, nor from many noodle shops around Boston.
A favorite with beer lovers, Far Bar serves over two dozen artisan brews, plus a long list of spirits and yummy drinking bites like teriyaki sliders, wasabi fries and garlic-butter edamame. While there are burgers on the menu—try the house version with smoked gouda, onions and sriracha mayo—we’d recommend the bacon fried rice with chashu and fried eggs or any of the sushi rolls over them anyday. This focused ramen shop in Torrance serves polished bowls with a garlicky broth. Chashu pork melts in one’s mouth, while the noodles are of the thin, wheat variety common at Hakata-style shops. Isshindo had big shoes to fill, taking over the space of the beloved Pikaichi at Super 88. Opened in March 2022, this new ramen shop hopes to carve a niche for itself in the already-crowded Harvard Square ramen scene with its innovative and unconventional ramen inspired by an ocean town in Japan.
Popular with Tourists,
Ramen is the warm blanket of the food world, providing solace through the changing of the seasons. The Boston area is a treasure trove for this comforting Japanese dish, and plenty of restaurants serve a variety of bowls that should not be overlooked. This charming Japanese diner's been around since 1972—and while Suehiro recently relocated from Little Tokyo to Downtown L.A., the unpretentious menu still offers just as much old-school Japanese comfort from a much larger, sleeker dining room. Tuck into decades-plus old recipes like curry udon, shrimp tempura, straightforward donburi and okonomi combo platess. Tuck away into one of the booths for more privacy, or sidle up to the bar and watch day and night street views of Tokyo play out on a large flat-screen TV, no matter the time of day. Speaking of time of day, this spot is open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Just note Hansei is reservation only—you’ll have to book online via Tock. This tantanmen specialist on Sawtelle comes from the prolific Tsujita group, which already has two standout noodle restaurants on the block. What’s different about Killer Noodle is its homage to the spicy, Chinese-inflected tantanmen. With sesame- and pepper-laden noodles, the ramen is served as a noodle soup or “dry” on a platter. After waiting forever for sushi or ramen at one of Little Tokyo’s cult-classic spots, duck into Wolf & Crane, a casual, dive bar-lite kind of place with communal tables, comic-print wallpaper and classic oldies bellowing from the sound system. A neighborhood bar where the Japanese whiskey is plentiful and the cocktails are creative (and often affordably priced), Wolf & Crane makes for a perfect gathering spot for a small birthday group or solo drinking.

With a composed, well-balanced broth that's not too rich, and sporting firm, high-quality noodles, it's a very good Tsujita competitor for Hakata-style tonkotsu. For something a little less heavy, opt for the chuka soba, a Tokyo-style bowl with a lighter broth. This Malden ramen shop is a spinoff of a popular market that attracted customers with its “ramen Sundays.” Now, Ebisuya Japanese Noodle House is a direct source for that same ramen, including spicy and non-spicy miso versions. Another ramen destination in Porter Square is a pint-sized counter inside Cambridge’s Porter Exchange food hall.
Ramen has entered the takeout rotation out of necessity in recent years—and we're glad it has. With locations in NYC and Taipei, Totto Ramen sports some serious street cred. The paitan-style ramen is thick and hearty, with house-made noodles. The broth is chicken-based, rather than pork, with miso and spicy options available.
Currently operating in the Honda Plaza parking lot, the Mermaid offers nautical-themed cocktails that are fruity, herbaceous and fun, and once a few of its rum-based concoctions have left you feeling peckish, well-made L.A. Bar fare like buffalo wings, cilantro chicken tacos and tater tots will keep you sated until last call. The Mermaid also offers a killer happy hour for drinks, with $7 to $10 cocktails all day on Sunday and 5 to 8pm on weekdays. These days, most of L.A.’s very best Edomae-style omakase meals require setting an alarm to snag a difficult Tock reservation, plus the willingness to dine early or on a random, often inconvenient weekday.
This tiny Coolidge Corner ramen shop opened in late 2015, hidden inside the Arcade building, and features a selection of nine ramen options under the Sapporo-style umbrella, including the spicy gankara miso, the sesame-based tan-tan, and more. Two of the main components of the ramen broth (kaeshi, the soup base and dashi, the soup stock) are freshly made in-house. The team also runs Gantetsu-Ya, a casual takoyaki and okonomiyaki shop in the same building. Just like other ramen hotspots, this place is small and can get busy quickly; go in small groups.
The vegetarian option—featuring menma, kikurage mushrooms, soy-marinated wheat gluten and umeboshi—makes a real argument for meatless ramen. Named the most elegant izakaya in Little Tokyo by the late Jonathan Gold, Kinjiro is an intimate, upscale dinner spot known for seared uni, decadent bone marrow dengaku and seared thick cut beef tongue. Here, each dish receives deeply thought-out gourmet treatment, from simple dishes like ochazuke made with housemade dashi broth to richer entrées like curry rice, which Kinjiro upgrades with a pillow-soft beef tongue. A large sake selection, as well as a few wines, ensures diners receive a full izakaya experience.
Springy noodles are made fresh in-house every day at Ruckus and fill up bowls of long-simmered miso chicken and pork broth. Keep it classic and choose Spicy or regular Tori Miso Ramen, topped with grilled, thick-cut pork belly, a soy-marinated egg, ginger-scallion oil, greens, butter, togarashi—or go big with Tori Miso Supreme, amped up with more grilled pork and sheets of nori. This tiny shop in Brookline serves Sapporo-style ramen and boasts only a few tables, as well as counter seats that let guests watch the chefs at work. The broth is made with both chicken and pork, and is packed with rich flavors.
Many of the area’s family-run shops and eateries date back decades, some older than World War II, and the neighborhood is full of delicious Japanese and non-Japanese food alike, a wide array of Asian sweets and even a few late-night cocktail bars. This ramen offering from the folks behind Torihei izakaya feels very much like a neighborhood ramenya in Japan, featuring an excellent tsukemen that's full of fish funk to go along with intense porkiness. The lighter Tokyo-style ramen has a terrific burst of bonito to round out the flavors without an overly rich tonkotsu broth. Sourcing high-quality ingredients is the focus at Little Big Diner, which sells a variety of pork and chicken ramen, as well as vegetarian pumpkin ramen with roasted delicata squash and spiced pepitas. The ramen shop is run by the same team that also owns another popular spot a few steps down the block, Jinny’s Pizzeria.
Masuo Onishi settled in Davis Square, Somerville, to share his unique perspective on ramen, having grown up eating the dish in Osaka, Japan. With springy noodles handcrafted in-house, the chef shares his own ramen story at Tsurumen through special noodle bowls inspired by his passions alongside signature menu staples. It’s all worth digging into—but you can’t go wrong with the original. Tsurumen’s Signature Shio Ramen has an invitingly clear chicken broth with boldly savory toppings, including crisped-up slices of chashu pork, bamboo shoots, minced red onion, and scallions. Next-door to sister spot Shōjō, this Chinatown ramen shop brings the ruckus with a hip-hop soundtrack and equally loud food.
